Frequently Asked Questions

I want to bring my child to have her bow legs evaluated next Monday. Where do I go and who  do I talk to when I arrive?

If this is your first visit to HAH, then follow the instructions on this site and check in to the orthopedic clinic in the hallway of the main hospital.

What time do I need to get there in order to be seen in clinic?

You should check in to the clinic during the listed clinic hours.  If there are delays at the registration desk or the cashier, you can alert the clinic staff. Somebody told me that I could come to HAH to see the doctor but I have no money.

Consultation fees are 1000 gdes.  We do not have a system to exonerate this initial fee.  Once you have been seen in the outpatient consultation area there are processes in place to provide discounts and exonerations for further interventions.

I work for a mission organization and want to refer a patient for ankle pain.  How much money do I need to send with him?

The consultation fee is 1000 gdes. If x-rays are needed, they typically cost 1500-3000 gdes. If major interventions are indicated the patient will be evaluated by our financial counselor. See Financial Counseling for additional information.

I want to send a patient to HAH who lives 5 hours away by donkey and taptap.  When can you fix her crooked leg and how much will it cost?

If you would like to consolidate the initial evaluation in clinic with a major operation then it is best to contact us ahead of time in order to make sure that we have the capacity to schedule this. If it is an orthopedic surgery case, you can email Dr. Scott scottnelson@haitiadventisthospital.org. For non-orthopedic cases contact Dr. Cho at jcho@haitiadventisthospital.org

My relative has a severe acetabular fracture and he is at another hospital. The doctors say they do not have the proper equipment to fix this. Can you take care of this and how do we get him transferred?

Likely we can treat him and arrangements can be made to have him transferred.  It is important to confirm the situation ahead of time. If trauma occurred less than 1 week previous, he will be eligible for Pwogram Ijans Aksidan.  Please Email Dr. Scott scottnelson@haitiadventisthospital.org for any case needing orthopedic surgery. Include x-ray images if possible. For non-orthopedic cases, contact Dr. Cho with all pertinent details jcho@haitiadventisthospital.org
